Hunter Mountain NY

Hunter is another mountain covered this winter for the family, Hunter Mountain counted as day 19 and 26 on the slopes for us in 2021.

Hunter Mountain is located in the heart of the Catskills, roughly 2 hours from NYC and about 90 minutes from Putnam County. Hunter provides fun year round, though we like it best for winter sports.  You can always check out the festivals and events on their website.

What We Loved

The location is perfect for a day trip, though we loved staying over to have some pool and hot tub time plus waking up and going right out to the mountain is great, more time on the slopes and less driving.  The kids loved the snow tubing located right outside our hotel.  So after a day of riding on the slopes we raced down in tubes having fun once again as a family. The kids loved the mini arcade in the hotel too, which provided a little peace while we ate in the hotel restaurant.

Where We Stayed

Hunter has many lodging options right on the mountain.  We stayed at the Kaatskill Mountain Club for both our stays, but staying at Liftside Village Condos also grants you use of the amenities at Kaatskill Mountain Club.  We loved the KMC for our family, included in some rooms are kitchen areas, and bedroom with pull out couch/murphy bed, fireplaces and kitchen table.   There is also a pool where you can swim indoors to outdoors, hot tubs, sauna, steam room, and exercise room.  The kids loved the arcade in the hotel and small store to buy treats like pizza and ice cream you can make in the room.   If you do forget anything there are a few shops just down the street.
